Dr. Lena Eckert is an assistant professor and researcher at the Media Faculty at Bauhaus University Weimar. Lena studied Gender Studies, Gender History and Modern German Literature at Humboldt University Berlin and Essex University. She received her PhD from Utrecht University in 2010 with a dissertation on the history of cross-cultural research into intersexuality. Since then she has widely published on teaching, gender and sexuality in international journals and edited collections.

Currently her research centers on education, gender, age and film, with a focus on embodiment, atmosphere and aesthetics. She is also interested in promoting new approaches to media education as well as new approaches to university teaching. She is involved in designing courses for blended learning in media education and film education at Bauhaus University Weimar.
