Ms Hlengiwe Mfeka is the Project Manager for the Learning Gains through Play project at SchoolNet South Africa, specializing in Teacher Professional Development in ICTs. Her responsibilities include training, mentoring and supporting teachers as they progress through stages of ICT development and pedagogy-technology integration. Her extensive experience in managing the CSIR’s ICT for Rural Education Development (ICT4RED) project in the Eastern Cape – Professional Development with tablets, has proved invaluable for the current project. She is passionately involved in creating and coaching communities of teachers using innovative technologies to enhance teaching and learning, and specifically with teachers in poorly-supported teaching environments. As a teacher, Ms Mfeka previously won the national Microsoft Innovative Teacher competition. She has participated and presented both at National and International ICT conferences which were aimed mainly at paving the way towards the implementation of e-Education in schools as well as exposing learners, teachers and Education Department officials to innovative learning technologies. She is a Professional Educator with diverse experience and a strong track record that fosters a learner-centred curriculum and one that inspires creativity among teachers and learners. Hlengiwe is married with three children.
