Postal Code: 76344 Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen

Country: Germany

Till Bergmann is a senior scientist and data acquisition expert. He graduated in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Freiburg in 1998. Then he worked 3 years as software developer for a commercial virtual reality software. He received a PhD in natural sciences with a subject in Particle Physic simulations from the University of Karlsruhe in 2007. Since then he is an employee of the Institute of Data Processing and Electronics (IPE) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Till Bergmann is an expert in scientific software development. Currently he is working on the instrumentation, assembly and commissioning of scientific experiments and projects. He develops the control and readout software for the IPE data acquisition (DAQ) systems.

So far Till Bergmann was mainly involved into three particle physics experiments: the cosmic ray Pierre Auger observatory in Argentina, the Karlsruhe neutrino mass experiment KATRIN and the dark matter search experiment Edelweiss in the Fréjus tunnel underground laboratory in France. Recently he joined the development team for the next generation of an ultra sound computer tomography (USCT) system used in mammography.

Till Bergmann is involved into the DAQ electronics development and the event trigger design. On the other hand he is responsible for the design of the DAQ control backend system and the first data processing steps and storage of recorded data. He is the link between the hardware related technicians and the scientific end users of the DAQ systems. He is integrated into the assembling of the DAQ systems on the experiment sites and is responsible for the commissioning of the systems.

Till Bergmann is interested in visualization, 3D design and virtual reality technics. He regards the scientific education of the next generation of physicists as important task. He combined his scientific experiences and his interests to construct a educational game for the usage in physics lectures.
