Andrea Anzanello, Pixel (Italy)

Abstract

Soft skills (SS) are recognized to be the success factor enabling individuals’ well-being, self-confidence, autonomy and responsibility, fulfilment of education/social and professional lives, career development and higher income. However, the set of Soft Skills is often referred to be as non-measurable skills by conventional tests or exams, as they include a wide range of skills related to the individual mind-set. VET_GPS is an European project aiming at developing a set of tools and materials to be used by vocational education and training (VET) professionals for the promotion and development of trainees’ soft skills, reducing their risk of dropping out from VET system and strengthen their capacity of integration in the labour market.

VET_GPS wants to answer to two essential European challenges:

  1. The challenge of reducing the high rates of dropouts from VET system
  2. The challenge of promoting the rates of employability of young adults in European countries

VET-GPS will design and provide a set of tools for VET professionals, fostering the acquisition, development and assessment of VET trainees' SOFT-SKILLS, including:

  1. A programme for Professional Development of Trainers/Tutors
  2. A toolkit for professional guidance & coaching
  3. A guide for integration of the SOFT-SKILLS in VET offer
  4. A quality framework and platform for the cooperation in VET system
