Abstract

The research is devoted to the process of education in the format of multiculturalism. This kind of education is aimed to help to solve the problems of multicultural society, its complexity in terms of cultural convergence in the conditions of poly-ethnicity. The search of balance between different ethnical systems of values, the questions of citizenship and interethnic concord, the rights of ethnical minorities – all these questions at the present time are of great concern at the student classes.
The concept of education in the format of multiculturalism presupposes mutual adaptation of all participants of the cultural dialogue, the creation of civic mental “space” that embraces the diversity of cultures and its interaction. Such kind of pedagogical activity must take into account the variety of axiological sets. But the weak chain of multicultural education is the idealistic belief that by means of pure education it is possible to eradicate national egocentrism and ethno-cultural barriers. In Russia the process of education in the format of multiculturalism is hampered by five factors: 1) the lack of all-national consolidating idea, 2) the deficit of ideological and psychological motives for interethnic stability, 3) centrifugal tendencies in some Russian regions and negative nationalistic frames in regions, 4) massive tidal wave of refugees and immigrants from former soviet republics, 5) the lack of articulated educational policy in multicultural audience.
The results of multicultural education depend on social and political climate and civil society maturity. The values which person gets into the habit through dialogical educational process are the component parts of civic values. That is why the civic education being designed for intercultural dialogue is a necessary element of civic identity.

Keywords: multiculturalism, intercultural dialogue, poly-ethnicity, civic;
