The Future of Education

Information and Counselling Centre (further ICC) provides a complete system of services in respect of study, social conditions, psychology and law to thousands of university students. The Centre also offers an assistance and consultancy to the students with special needs (including students from ethnic minorities and with socioeconomic disadvantage) and fully supports the idea of equal opportunities and open-mind environment for everybody, within and beyond the field of education. The ICC takes part in realization of the European project “ESF project of the University of West Bohemia” (European Social Fund founded by the European Union). In its key activities the entire university participates. The ICC is concerned in two particular program units, which cover the following target groups: consultants, academic workers, students with special needs and applicants for study. The project activities are especially related to a development and innovation of the consultancy services, increase of the consultants’ competencies and further more to establishment of the system of support and motivation to the students with special needs (including applicants for study) to decrease their rate of failure in study. Within the frame of each program unit many activities are implemented such as: educational programs for university employees, short-term internships and consultants mobility, motivating activities for students with special needs. Furthermore a net of experts with work experience and from different organizations (educational institutions, elementary schools, high schools, NGO) has been established, recently a counseling office for students – non-native speakers of Czech language has been opened and much more.
