The Future of Education

The spread of COVID-19 has sent shockwaves across the globe. This public health crisis has caused serious loss of life and put significant strain on the health sector. While governments are trying to prevent this health crisis; It could not prevent the economic crisis and the problems in the education system, which is expected to burden societies for years to come. According to UNESCO (2020a), as of April 2020, schools were closed in 188 countries, affecting approximately 92% of the student population worldwide. There is no doubt that unplanned school closures caused serious problems for students, educators, parents and society. Therefore, alternative searches have come to the fore so that education will not be interrupted with the closure of schools, and a rapid transition has been made to emergency distance education applications. In this process, the necessity and the importance of distance education has begun to be emphasized more then ever. Badrul Khan (2021) emphasizes that at no other time in history e-learning has received such great and overwhelming attention globally. In this context, Khan (2021) states that "the old normal is gone forever" and students will encounter more online and coeducational applications when they return to campus. At this point, the concept of "new normal" comes to the fore. The pandemic has sown the seeds of changes that can be considered a turning point in the education system. A roadmap for the new normal should be put forward with the lessons learned from the process and the experiences gained. Considering that the Covid-19 pandemic has been effective on an international scale and has touched the lives of millions of people, the importance of the evaluations to be made on both national and international platforms is much clearer. It is seen that the methods and techniques used differ according to the countries and even the states. In this context, examining the different paths followed by different countries, synthesizing the practices that give the best results will make significant contributions to the practices in the field. This research, which aims to evaluate the pandemic process and to present a picture of different applications from different countries was designed in the general survey model. The research consists of two main stages. In the first stage, a comprehensive literature review was carried out on the management of distance education, crisis management and the reflections of the Covid-19 pandemic in education. In the second stage, new and original applications will be revealed and the most preferred applications on an international scale will be determined. In the second stage, data will be presented by classifying them under appropriate headings. In this context, the data will be conceptualized and presented in a logical way.
