Ib or Ap Preference in University Applications in FMV Işık High School

Abstract

There have been many changes in every field of life with the advent of globalization. One of these areas is education. Today, individuals who attach importance to education tend to prefer different parts of the world more. It has been observed that there has been an increase in the number of students who want to continue their education abroad in recent years in Turkey. The spread of international programs has especially provided opportunities for students who want to study abroad. IB (International Baccalaureate) and AP (Advanced Placement) are the most preferred programs in Turkey as well as in the world. At FMV Işık High School, IB and AP education programs set out with a common purpose, and they prepare the environment for students to gain various academic and social skills with different methods and practices. These two international systems have a fundamental effect on the multifaceted development of students. In this study, the reasons why 10th grade students at FMV Işık High School, a private school in Istanbul, prefer IB and AP in their international applications were examined. Innovative Thinking Tendency Scale and International Personality Inventory (IPI) were applied to the students and the results were given comparatively for both programs.
