Dr. Mirela Lazimi is a scholar and educator with over two decades of experience in teaching, historical research, and academic engagement. She currently serves as a full-time lecturer at Aleksandër Moisiu University in Durrës.
She graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology at the University of Tirana, where she also earned her PhD in History. Her doctoral dissertation, “The Albanian League of Prizren According to Western Sources”, is considered an important contribution to Albanian historiography, providing a critical analysis of Western archival sources on the subject.
Since 2001, Dr. Lazimi has taught in various pre-university institutions and has held leadership roles in curriculum development teams, pedagogical councils, and subject departments. In 2011, she was the lead author of the national history exam for the State Matura, in collaboration with the National Examinations Agency (QSHA).
As a university lecturer, her academic work focuses on supporting students in developing analytical and research competencies in the field of history, with particular attention to national history, identity, and diplomacy.
Dr. Lazimi has a rich record of scholarly activity. She has presented papers at major conferences in Italy, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Albania, including at the Sapienza University of Rome and the “Science Week” Forum organized by the Ministry of Education. Her research topics include the Albanian League of Prizren, the works of Sami Frashëri, and the portrayal of the Albanian question in international media.
She is the author and co-author of several scientific articles published in academic journals and conference proceedings. Alongside her academic career, she has participated in numerous training programs and seminars focused on modern teaching methodologies, the use of technology in education, and professional ethics in teaching.
In 2012, she was awarded the title “Specialist Teacher” in recognition of her professional performance and commitment. She has functional knowledge of English and holds internationally recognized certificates of language proficiency.
Her main areas of expertise include: Albanian national history, history pedagogy and didactics, curriculum development, historical research, educational assessment, and the intersection of history with cultural identity and international diplomacy.
