Ron Corso lecturer and former Program director for Graphic Design and Product Innovation at the University of South Australia. He has had an involvement in Design Education for over thirty years having initially trained as an Industrial Designer then moving into teaching, administration and consulting roles across sectors from elementary, open education schools to higher and further education. He has conducted research into the teaching of creativity, convened conferences as well as publishing and presenting at numerous conferences, seminars and colloquiums. A number of workshops he has facilitated relating to creativity across disciplines locally, nationally and internationally have influenced significant curriculum change to reflect practice and the building of creative capacity in students. He has been the recipient of national (Australia) OLT and university grants, teaching and learning, research citations and awards in recognition of his work in the field. This has led to initiatives such as Ingenium an on-line creativity teaching framework intended as an aid to foster the application of creative processes in idea generation for design and research across many applications. Initiatives in the teaching of creativity have led to the establishment of blended learning models of practice including social media with the site Unearthing Ideas Online facilitating the dissemination and sharing of ideas relating to creativity education. Ron has international experience having acted as a consultant in integrating creativity across disciplines, working on projects promoting, Design, Design Education, Drawing and Creativity. These have included The Design Dimension Project UK, Power Drawing Campaign, UK. Cooper Hewitt Design Museum Summer Design Institute series of workshops over 5 years, New York, USA. Creativity in the Curriculum, Dubai Women’s College. Recently relationships have been established with The Marconi Institute in Bologna, Carnegie Mellon University Australia and The Lorenzo Di Medici Institute in Florence. Consultancies in creative thinking for SA Education Department, Marden Medical Clinic, Basdec industries and Hilton Hotel Australasia. Current work is focused on developing a vision for a University of Innovation at the University of South Australia where he is playing a leading role in establishing the frameworks and strategies for building this capacity across all sectors and disciplines of the institution. Ron is also involved in a small design consultancy partnership practice working in the fields of graphic and product design, undertakes real estate entrepreneurial projects, has an interest in restoring classic cars.
