Ekaterina Strati is a lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Education, University of Durres, Albania.

Ekaterina graduated in English Language Teaching – Linguistics from the University of Tirana in 2007. In addition, she earned the diploma in Law, University of Shkodra, which she integrated with her language qualification in teaching legal English at university level. Since then, for the last 12 years, she has constantly been working in the field of English language teaching and linguistics.
Since 2007 she has been working as lecturer at the university of Durres, a higher education institution in Albania. From 2013 she has been working as a legal translator, after being accredited by the Ministry of Justice as a legal sworn translator. In 2015 she founded the foreign Language Centre “Internship” and since then she has been its administrator. During the last two years she has been engaged as a specialist and translator in the Erasmus+ Project, EDULAW.

Ekaterina is an expert in the legal language focusing in particular on the areas of ESP research. For over twelve years she has been presenting as a speaker in many conferences, both in Europe and the USA. In 2014 she received the title Doctor of Science by the University of Tirana, upon the doctorate thesis she presented on “A comparative perspective of Antonyms in English and Albanian language”.

Ekaterina has also participated in the Brussels workshops Bridging the Gap “Improving EU Teaching”, 14-15 may 2012, with the participation of 22 teachers from countries inside and beyond the EU, where they focused on the latest developments and decision-making in EU, teaching methods, etc.

In March 2013, she participated at TESOL 2013 International Convention and English Language Expo in Dallas, Texas, USA where she presented the article “Redesigning Master’s Degree Programs”. During this visit to the USA, she took part in many workshops, open lectures, doctoral thesis defense, etc. organised at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, USA and also presented an article on “Antonymy and other Lexical and Semantic Relations”.at the International Conference in University of Nevada, Las Vegas, USA.

In April 2018, Ekaterina participated in a staff mobility program with partner universities, where she held open lectures for the international students of KJU university in Budapest, where she also presented in the international conference “Global Trends: New challenges to economics, social and cultural development”.

In July 2018, she attended the International Summer School on teaching about the legal framework on the right to education and equal education opportunities, in Moscow, Russia, funded by the European Union project, EduLaw, where international experts and local authorities held their presentations on sensitive issues on education, especially regarding discrimination.

In November of the same year, Ekaterina participated in the Methodological seminars on formulating learning outcomes, translation and glossary in Education law and litigation and public events, in Moscow, Russia, held by EduLaw Project, with seminars and workshops in the Moscow State University, Higher School of Economics, etc.

Ekaterina is also a co-author of Legal English textbook for higher education use, which was designed and approved to be used as an ESP course at university.
