Catalina Herrera Mateus is a professor from Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios located in Bogotá, Colombia with a specific expertise in language teaching and teacher training.

Catalina graduated in English language teaching from Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas in 2006. Then, she obtained her Master in Education from Universidad de Los Andes in 2012. For the last 13 years she has been working as a language teacher, teacher trainer and researcher.

From 2006 to 2013 she worked as language teacher in schools, higher education institutions and language institutes. From 2013 until today she has worked in language teaching programs and developed some research in the teachers’ development field.

Catalina is an expert in language teaching methodologies and language teachers’ beliefs. For over 6 years she has taught methodologies courses such as theories and approaches in language teaching, didactics, teaching skills, teaching English to young learners and assessment. Moreover, she has participated in research projects regarding teaching practices and teachers’ beliefs. She has coordinated research projects and students’ research groups in the same areas.

Catalina has been tutor and evaluator of thesis in undergraduate programs and has been involved as evaluator in different research events. Additionally, she has been part of organizational committees of two different research events and has participated as a speaker in national and international conferences.

She been co-author of the book” Caracterización de las prácticas docentes universitarias: Desafíos para la cualificación docente en la Facultad de Educación de UNIMINUTO (2017)”, she has published the article “Aprendizajes y dificultades de la evaluación por pares en una clase de inglés como lengua extranjera a través del correo electrónico” (2015), and she has written proceedings in the 44th international MEXTESOL convention “Strengthening Learning communities” (2017) and 11° congreso internacional de educación superior (2018)
