Patrícia Ferreira was born in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.
She holds a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. She holds a Master's Degree in Early English Teaching from the Superior School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto and a PhD in Education from the University of Santiago de Compostela.
She was a visiting researcher at the London Metropolitan University, her research being in the field of early English teaching and citizenship and identity among children. She is a trained/certified teacher in Portuguese and English Languages and Literatures, Citizenship and Intercultural Communication, Didactics, and other subjects related to languages and cultures. She has also taught English to Primary School children for about ten years.
She is also a researcher at inED - Centre for Research and Innovation in Education, and the author and reviewer of scientific articles in the field of Foreign language education, citizenship and identity.
