Jane Duarte is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences, Universidade Católica Portuguesa and also a researcher at CECC, the Centre of Communication and Cultural Studies where she has worked and published articles on digital literacies and multimodality within the scope of Translation Studies
Alongside her 30 years of teacher experience in Higher Education, she has undertaken work as a translator and proofreader of technical and scientific texts. She is the author of "The Portuguese Adventure into Wonderland, A Relevance-Theoretic Approach to Translation".
Her current research focuses on new teaching methodologies in Translator Training, including topics such as Service Learning, Peer-Mentoring and the integration of AI in the translation classroom. She is part of a team of teachers that received the 2022 European Language Label, an award presented by the Erasmus+ National Agency, for their educational project"LEA Translators for Ukraine", and has recently been awarded with T4Europe Innovative Teaching Awards Prize (2025) with the project, Translator meets Journalist in the EFL/Translation classroom
