Dr. Lebogang Mosupye-Semenya holds a PhD in Business Management from the University of Johannesburg (UJ), an MBA from Wits Business School (WBS), and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). She is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Johannesburg Business School (JBS), where she plays a pivotal role in educating MBA candidates about Digital Technologies and Disruptive Technologies. Her teaching approach seamlessly integrates theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world applications.
Lebogang's research interests primarily focus on the Fourth Industrial Revolution, its technologies, and its impact on the quadruple helix. Before her tenure at JBS, she served as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the DSI/NRF/Newton Fund Trilateral Chair in Transformative Innovation, 4IR, and Sustainable Development, situated within the College of Business and Economics at the University of Johannesburg. Prior to commencing her academic journey in 2022, Lebogang had a 15-year career as a Chemical Engineer in the water sector.
Notably, Dr. Mosupye-Semenya has shared her expertise on the international stage, contributing to the Namibian 4IR Readiness report, which was presented to the Namibian Cabinet and President. She further contributed to the South African Emerging Technologies Landscape Analysis report, which was presented to a UK-based organization. In South Africa, she facilitated and presented an AI Governance and Ethics session during the National AI Government Summit hosted by the Department of Communication and Digital Technologies. Lebogang’s portfolio of research publications includes journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers presented at conferences held in diverse locations, including the Dominican Republic, Cairo, and Kenya.
Beyond her research, Lebogang actively participates in academic committees at JBS, contributing to the Marks Quality and Assessment Committee, Ethics Committee, and Plagiarism Committee. She is also a reviewer for several local and international conferences and journals. Additionally, she supervises fifteen Master's students and co-supervises three doctoral students.
