Experiential Process Model for Enhancing Classroom Management Skills in Teacher Training through Microteaching

Dai Sakuma; Takumi Ohashi

Abstract

This study aims to improve pre-service teachers' skills in learner-centered instructional design by developing and implementing a curriculum that integrates image cards with key concept-task module binding charts. The curriculum was applied in a course attended by 49 pre-service teachers, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical activities. Participants engaged in tasks such as designing macro and micro structural charts, reflecting on virtual student models, and simulating diverse learning scenarios. These activities were designed to foster skills in analyzing and responding to students' diverse needs effectively. Course evaluation surveys revealed the curriculum’s effectiveness in enhancing reflective instructional design practices and improving the ability to visualize learning structures. This study highlights the importance of experiential learning and integrating visualization tools in teacher training programs, providing valuable insights into innovative approaches to instructional design education for future educators.
