Ülkü Ülker

Ülkü Ülker is an academic at Dicle University, one of the public university in Türkiye, and her title is Assistant Professor.

Ülkü graduated as a PhD in Computer & Instructional Technologies Department – Educational Sciences from the Gazi University in 2021. Since 2012, she has been working in Computer & Instructional Technologies department. From 2012 to 2023 she worked as a research assistant in Dicle University. Now she is working as an Assist. Prof. Dr. at the same university. She also works as a panellist in Ministry of National Education for reviewing draft textbooks for the national schools. Before starting her academic career, she worked as a master instructor in a private software course. She was also an information technologies teacher in basic and secondary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Her ORCID ID is 0000-0002-5452-4227.

Ülkü is an expert in the instructional design, open and distance education, e-learning, interaction particularly in online learning environment, instructional technologies. Her PhD thesis title was “The effect of using interactive assessment tools on achievement anxiety, motivation, achievement in e-learning environments and learners' views”. Her areas of interest are sustainability in education, digital games and gamification, serious games, coding and algorithmic thinking skills, information security, and cryptology, generative artificial intelligence, digital literacy, technology applications for disadvantaged individuals, scientific research methods, educational project development, morality and ethics in education, adults’ education and lifelong learning, out-of-school learning.

She has taken part in different projects and different roles since 2023. Within the scope of TÜBİTAK 4007 Science Land Project (May, 2023), she took on the role of workshop leader for “My Dream Cloud”, which included the use of a Web 2.0 tool for generating word clouds. Within the scope of TÜBİTAK Science Talks, she took part as a speaker in the talk titled “Internet Literacy and Use of Digital Resources” in different cities in Türkiye (November, 2023). She took on the role of Workshop Leader for the “Robotic Coding Workshop” (October, 2023) at the Sur Culture Road Festival. A student project, which she advised within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 2209A, university student research project support program, has been accepted as of April 2025 and the process is ongoing. In April 2024, she visited the Department of Curriculum, Teacher Education and Technology – Institute of Education in University of Lisbon, Portugal via ERASMUS KA131 STA with a grant. Also in January 2024, she visited the Department of General Pedagogy, Didactics and Cultural Studies – Institute of Pedagogy in University of Szczecin, Poland under ERASMUS KA131 STA, without a grant.

Since early of 2025, she is an associate editor at International Journal of Web-Based Learning and Teaching Technologies.
