Carlos Renato Zacharias
Institution: São Paulo State University (Unesp)
Country: Brazil
Carlos Renato Zacharias is professor at São Paulo State University – UNESP, Guaratinguetá, Brazil, Department of Physics and Chemistry, since 1989.
Zacharias is Physicist (1986 – Bachelor, UNICAMP; 1991 – Master, UNICAMP; 1998 – PHD, CTA/ITA). Researcher in Experimental Physics (biophysics and high diluted systems) and Simulational Physics (non linear optimization methods: simulated annealing and genetic algorithm) until 2016
In 2017, he decided to reconfigure his Physics classes adopting active learning methodologies. Then, he started to study new methodologies, and implemented Flipped Classroom and Gamification on Experimental Physics courses, at Higher Education. His current research interest in gamification deals with how to customize Physics classes, considering the diversity on student’s personality and scholar background and how to develop and reinforce student’s soft skills, further the academical and technical knowledge.
Areas of expertise: Flipped Classroom, gamification, instructional design, for higher education courses.
