Beate Baltes

Beate Baltes is a senior core faculty at Walden University, a US based online university. Her responsibilities are mainly to help doctoral students to get started on the right track with their research project.

Beate graduated from the University of Munich in 1993 and the United States International University of San Diego in 1996 with degrees in education. She has worked in higher education for over two decades. Her career started in the Department of Teacher Education at a brick and mortar university where she developed the first online Teacher Education program. Now Beate works primarily in doctoral education where she virtually mentors doctoral candidates.

Beate has spent her sabbatical at the University of Chemnitz in Germany where she developed and chaired the Department for Adult Learning through Electronic Communication. Beate has consulted with several European companies that moved their internal training to online learning. Beate has received research grants for her work in the US and in Germany.

Her current research focuses on supporting doctoral students in US universities as half of doctoral candidates drop out before graduation nationwide.
