Matthew J. Smith is a third-year doctoral student in the College Student Affairs Administration Ph.D. program at the University of Georgia (UGA). He holds a BA in history from the University of Utah, an MA in Medical Sciences from Boston University, and an MS in Counselor Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs from Mississippi State University.
Matthew’s research interests include: factors that influence persistence/resiliency/sense of belonging of students who struggle academically in college, cognitive development of students in college outside of the formal classroom setting, how college students social class identity impacts their college experience, and assessment in student affairs/higher education.
