Anne Marie graduated with a PhD in Biochemistry from Dublin City University in 1997. Previous to that she that she obtained a Master in Toxicology from Portsmouth University, She started her Studies in Athlone Institute of technpology in 1986 where she graduated with a National certificate in science and subsequently a national diploma toxicology. She has always had a keen interest in the science of teaching and learning and in 2013 she graduated with a post graduate diploma in Third level learning and Teaching from Athlone Institute of Technology
Anne Marie is currently co-chair of the Science Undergraduate research Experience (SURE) network which recently won the “Best Academic Partnership” at the Irish Education Awards (Feb 2019). She is also part of the curriculum development committee within the SURE network which is tasked with developing and sharing teaching and research resources across the wider IOT sector. This is being carried out via conferences, open access journal, workshops and a dedicated website. Her current research and teaching interest are in the area of innovative use of Student Response System (SRS) and digital badges, Anne Marie is the lead researcher on the project to introduce a campus wide SRS across Athlone Institute of Technology and she is also lead on a number of projects that are looking into and assessing the benefit and impact of Digital badges. She is also the treasurer of The Irish society of Toxicology.
Anne Marie is a lecturer at Athlone Institute of Technology in the department of life and physical science in the field of Toxicology.
