Clara Bento Vaz is Adjunct Professor at the Department of Industrial Management at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança. She is a research collaborator at CeDRI – Center for Research in Digitization and Intelligent Robotics.
Clara holds a Masters in Computer Integrated Production from the University of Minho, where she developed simulation models to assess the performance of companies working in Just-in-time supply. She holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, where he developed linear programming models under the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique adapted to the reality observed in a chain of food-based retail stores to assess their efficiency and productivity.
Clara has been involved in several research projects in the field of efficiency assessment, using DEA models, in different sectors, namely, renewable energy, environmental sustainability and third sector.
She has published several book chapters, articles in scientific journals and international conference proceedings. She has taught in the areas of operations management, logistics, statistics and operational research. Her research interests are centered on simulation, DEA models, Data Science, Operational research, Statistics, Operations Management, Logistics and Supply chain management.
Clara has also been involved in the development of innovative b-learning tools (Project MathE) to support the teaching of operational research. She is a member of the Portuguese Association for Operational Research (APDIO) and a member of the Portuguese Network of Mathematics for Industry and Innovation (PT-MATHS-IN).
