Jasmine Penney

Jasmine Penney is a fourth-year student at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is majoring in physics and computational mathematics.

Jasmine was awarded the NSERC promo science grant beginning in May 2020. She is working alongside Dr Svetlana Barkanova to research subatomic physics involvement in Canada.

She is an active volunteer with the physics society. She participates in presentations with students in secondary school and assists in hosting observatory nights in the university’s observatory. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jasmine has been helping organize webinars for secondary students hoping to purse physics in post-secondary.

Jasmine’s main interests are subatomic physics and medical physics. Upon graduation in May 2021, she hopes to continue to graduate school to study medical physics.

Areas of expertise: Science education, curriculum development, studies on education, subatomic physics.
