"NEVER DISCOURAGE ANYONE WHO MAKES PROGRESS, NO MATTER HOW SLOW." ( Plato )

As a geographer, ethicist and therapist, Angelika is dedicated to a sustainable future development in all fields of life. Her work as a research assistant at the Institute of Geography is guided by the following personal approach: “To tap the full potential, that Digitization offers in regard to a sustainable development, we have to take responsibility and make “informed” choices. Therefor education and lifelong learning play a main role – all over the world.”

The academic education of Angelika includes a Diploma (univ.) in Geography from LM University Munich/Germany, a PhD in Geography from University of Basel/Switzerland and a MAS in Ethics from University Zürich/Switzerland. In addition, her training as body therapist and experience as counsellor qualify her also to look at developments from a health-perspective.

For Angelika it is a great honor to be part of the team “Digitization in Education” which was founded in 2019 at the Institute of Geography at Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany. Together with her team colleagues Fabian Brod and Nikolai Rohmann, she represents an “instance” for information exchange, discussion and change management in regard to digitization in education. The team “Digitization in Education” realizes flagship projects as well as deep reflections on selective digital teaching-and learning-formats and methods.

Asked about the role of digitization and the future of education Angelika answered: “Our goal is not the complete digitization of education in the sense of “what is technically feasible”. Foremost the digital transformation in education is in our opinion a process, driven by scientific knowledge, professional experience and rational arguments. The ability to imagine future developments and to consider the complexity of human life plays an important role as well as the integration of research results. One thing is clear: There is no space for pessimism and black-and-white-thinking.”

In her course “Digital Transformation & Future Skills”, which is taking place at the Institute of Geography at Ruhr-University Bochum, Angelika also dives into the subject “Future of education”.

Angelika and her team colleagues Fabian Brod and Nikolai Rohmann welcome the exchange of ideas - contact them under the following email: [email protected]
