Erin K. Anderson

Erin K. Anderson is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, USA. Dr. Anderson has a BS degree in Political Science from Boise State University and an MS and PhD in Sociology with a minor in Women’s Studies from Purdue University. She has taught at Washington College since 2004.
Her teaching and research interests include gendered experiences at the individual, interactional, and institutional levels. Her previous research has looked at gender and family roles through work requirements of welfare recipients as well as men’s nontraditional parenting roles as primary caregivers or takers of parental leave.
She is also interested in the scholarship of teaching and learning and serves as an area editor for the American Sociological Association’s Teaching Resources and Innovations Library in Sociology (TRAILS) as well as a reviewer for the ASA journal Teaching Sociology.
Dr. Anderson’s publications appear in several journals including The Journal of Poverty, Girlhood Studies, and College Teaching. She is the co-editor of the 2015 book Family-Friendly Policies and Practices in Academe.
