Rotimi Joseph

Dr Rotimi Joseph is Senior Lecturer and the Course Leader for BSc Quantity Surveying degree at the University of Brighton, United Kingdom.

Dr Rotimi Joseph is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, with over 20 years experience of working in the construction industry at both local and international levels. He is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyor (FRICS), he is a member of the education accreditation panel of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). He is currently the principal partner at Kemrot Associates Limited a firm of quantity surveying and project management.

Dr Rotimi Joseph graduated in Quantity Surveying – from the Federal University of Technology, Minna Niger State Nigeria in 2000, He obtained his MSc in Construction Project Management at the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom in 2003 and proceeded to obtain his PhD in Construction and Property Management at the University of West of England in 2014. Since he obtained his first degree in Quantity Surveying, he has constantly been working in the field of construction cost management and reinstatement after natural disaster event such as flood. In 2016, he established Kemrot Associates Limited, where he is one of the principal partners.

Due to his passion for academic excellence, he joined University of Brighton in 2019 to lead the BSc Quantity Surveying degree programme. He is solely responsible for quantity surveying course development. Besides this, he is a Visiting fellow at the university of the West of England, Bristol, where he works in collaboration with other researchers to conduct industry lead research for both DEFRA and Flood Re.

Dr Rotimi is a research active academic with national and international recognition in the area of construction management, particularly in cost benefit analysis, flood risk management at household level and in particular psychological and mental health impact of natural disaster.


Areas of expertise: International project cost management, Sustainable construction, construction related curriculum development, flood risk management at household levels, Cost benefit analysis of intangible impact of flood risk.
