Alma Reynal-Quintanilla has grown her professional career for the past 12 years supporting academic global experiences for diverse student and faculty populations within higher education institutions both in the USA and Mexico.
Back in Mexico, she spearheaded communications with universities in North America, Latin America, and France, as well as the local and federal governments to secure external and internal funding to support study abroad scholarships for underserved communities, raising the available options for students, and for faculty members
Within her tenure at Emory, Alma has co-facilitated workshops on inclusive and equitable student program for study abroad, including the Emory’s 'Navigating Identities Abroad' toolkit. The toolkit aims to foster spaces for transformational identity development within international education and showcase cross-campus collaboration to build up support for diverse student populations. In addition, the toolkit can be utilized as a pre-departure resource and a tool for reflection on identity development while abroad.
As a workshop cofacilitator, Alma has brought together interested faculty and staff from multiple schools at Emory to discuss strategies for inclusivity and highlight opportunities, challenges and solutions related to international education at multiple stages throughout the process.
Alma currently supports the function of Safety and Security at Emory Global Engagement as Senior Program Coordinator.
