Dr. Shilpagauri Prasad Ganpule is the Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Research Centre for M. Phil. and Ph.D. in English, Prof. Ramkrishna More College, Akurdi, Pune, India. (Permanently affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune India.), with a specific expertise in English Language and Literature Teaching. Shilpagauri did her graduation in English from Sir Parshurambhau College, Pune and post-graduation in English from Savitribai Phule Pune University in 1994. She did her M. Phil. in “Teaching of Articles at the Undergraduate Level” and Ph. D. in “Teaching of the Listening Skill at the Undergraduate Level” from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). For 23 years she has been working in the college and teaching at the undergraduate and post graduate levels. She also conducts M. Phil. course work sessions. She is the M. Phil. and Ph. D. supervisor at SPPU. One of her student is awarded with the Ph. D. degree and 5 students have successfully completed their M. Phil. under her able guidance. 5 students are pursuing their Ph. D. research work under her supervision. She also coordinates Spoken English Course and Soft Skills Development Programmes in her college.
Shilpagauri is the former member of the Academic Council and Faculty of Arts and Fine Arts, SPPU. She has worked as a chairman and member of many Local Inquiry Committees appointed by SPPU for accreditation of many colleges and educational institutes. She also worked as a subject expert for a number of Selection Committees and also for M. Phil. and Ph.D. Viva-Voces. She has worked as a member of the Distance Education Committee of SPPU and prepared teaching materials for the First Year Bachelor of Arts students. She produced teaching materials for the visually impaired students of First, Second and Third Year Bachelor of Arts, SPPU in the form of audio CDs. She is the member of the Executive Committee of Shri Sainath Education Association, Chinchwad, Pune, India. She is holding the position of the Director of Vocational Services in Rotary Club Chinchwad, Pune, India.
Shilpagauri’s two books namely, Dimensions of Teaching Listening Skills (2013) and The Merchant of Venice (Ed. 2014) and a number of research papers have been published in national and international journals and reference books. Her chapter “Use of Video Clips in the
Teaching of Drama” is included in the reference book entitled Language Arts in Asia 2 (2014) published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Cambridge, U.K. She has successfully completed a Minor Research Project entitled “Teaching Materials for the Enhancement of the Listening Skill” which was funded by University Grants Commission, New Delhi, India. Her ongoing Minor Research Project entitled “Use of Task-Based Activities for the Teaching of Drama” is funded by SPPU, Pune, India.
Shilpagauri took initiative in the collaboration between the Department of English, HongKong Polytechnic University, Kowloon, HongKong and her college. She successfully coordinated four weeks’ “Business English Through Animation Course” designed and conducted by the collaborative partner Dr. Christina DeCoursey for two consecutive years 2012-13 and 2013-14. She also published a number of research papers with Dr. DeCoursey She worked in the Organizing Committee of the Third Language Arts and Linguistics Conference held on 29th and 30th September, 2013 HongKong Polytechnic University.
Shilpagauri has chaired sessions and presented papers in many State, National and International level conferences. She has visited many countries, namely, U.K., France, Switzerland, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, U.A.E., Singapore and Thailand. She received the “Best Paper Award” in the international conference on “Arts and Humanities 2014” held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 2nd and 3rd April, 2014 organised by the International Institute of Knowledge Management, Colombo and Northern Colorado University, U.S.A. She has received many awards for her significant contribution in the academic field. She is a free-lance writer who has published many articles in Indian National level Newspapers.
