Guzman Mancho-Barés holds a BA in English Philology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain, 1991), and he obtained his PhD on English Studies at Alcala University (Spain) in 2001. He also holds a MA in E-Learning from the Open University of Catalonia (Spain, 2003).
He lectured at Alcala University from 1996-2009 on History of the English Language, and he was in charge of teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in different degrees during this period. He has been teaching ESP in the Business Administration degree of Lleida University since 2009 and up to the moment. He is also involved in teaching in the MA in Applied Languages (online) at the Lleida University since 2010: specifically, he teaches on the use of ICT in language learning. He is also a co-tutor of two PhD candidates, whose research is related to the use of ICT in the process of language learning.
He has held the Coordinator position of the MA in Language Languages (online) since 2011.
As far as research is concerned, he has edited a multi-authored volume on the implementation of wikis in Higher Education teaching in Spain (2010). Since 2009, he is member of the Cercle de Lingüística Aplicada at the UdL (http://www.cla.udl.cat/). He has done research on needs analysis in Business English (2013), and multilingual education in general, and the interplay between ESP and English-medium instruction since 2013. Currently, he co-leads with David Block a funded research project entitled “Towards an empirical assessment of the impact of English-medium instruction at university: language learning, disciplinary knowledge and academic identities” (2016-2019)
