Christine Evain
Institution: Université Rennes 2
Country: France
Christine Evain is a professor at the University of Rennes 2, where her research primarily focuses on the didactics of French and English as foreign languages (FLE/ALE), with a strong emphasis on literature. Over the years, she has explored innovative learning methods, particularly within the framework of internationalization at home. Her collaborative approach has led to the development of synergies across various projects, including three Erasmus+ initiatives, in partnership with numerous research units and international collaborators.
Since 1999, her research has delved into the book industry, contemporary post-colonial literature, language learning dynamics, international exchanges, and virtual worlds. The late 1990s saw significant transformations in the book industry, introducing Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which Christine has adeptly repurposed for educational purposes. Her projects often emphasize the importance of resource-sharing and building communities of practice, reflecting the collaborative frameworks inspired by the latest ICTE developments.
Christine has also authored over a hundred articles and books on didactics and literature, furthering her contributions to the field (a full list of her publications is available here: https://perso.univ-rennes2.fr/christine.evain).
Her extensive geographical mobility has deeply enriched her academic and professional trajectory. Christine lived and studied in the United States, Germany, and England, before beginning her career in London in 1988 and later returning to France. She has traveled extensively to Canada, participated in major international book fairs (such as Frankfurt, Brussels, Guadalajara, Bologna, and New York), and presented at numerous international conferences. Additionally, Christine has contributed to various high-impact research and pedagogical innovation projects, such as TRIP, GAMELand, and DECLAME’FLE, collaborating with academic institutions across Tunisia, Norway, Ireland, Italy, Slovakia, Poland, Spain, Germany, and the USA.
Her work continues to bridge the gap between literary studies, language acquisition, and cutting-edge pedagogical methods.
