Innovation in Language Learning

Monica Martinelli is a PhD student in Applied Linguistics and a Graduate Fellow in the Team-TERRA Training Program. She teaches for the Neag School of Education and previously taught all levels of Italian, as well as Italian culture and cinema, Greek and Latin Mythology, and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Connecticut. She holds an MA degree from the multi-university Erasmus Mundus Master’s program “Crossways in Cultural Narratives” at the University of St Andrews. She is a translator and worked as an interpreter of Italian author Dacia Maraini. Her research focuses on the expansion of the Italian literary canon to encompass female and racialized authors. As member of the project Passionate Humanities, she works on bridging the gap between academia and the public and she presented at numerous international conferences such as KFLC at the University of Kentucky, CAIS Sorrento, AATI Perugia, and Black Europe Summer School Symposium in Amsterdam among others.
