Sigrun Peil is a PhD student at the University of Minho (Portugal) in the field of Educational Technology. The focus of her research project is on studying how digital media can have a role in learning intercultural and second language skills, because these competencies are becoming more important in times of globalization. She would like to contribute to preparing young people for those actual and upcoming challenges.
The issues of learning and education already concern her for a long time. In her youth she was already imparting knowledge and skills to others, for example by doing extra tuition for pupils, giving piano lessons for a young woman with special needs or teaching different skills at her voluntary activity as a trainer of a youth group.
Her master thesis in the field of Electronic Media dealt with the question, how children could discover more about intercultural communication in an interactive museum.
She has more than five years of work experience in a special interest publishing house. In her last position as an innovation manager, her focuses were Agile Project Management, Cross Media Projects and Employee Training.
