Izabela Bawej

Izabela is a German teacher. She graduated in German Studies from the University of Gdańsk (Poland) and she has got a PhD in Linguistics, awarded at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań (Poland). Izabela is also a sworn translator of German.

She is a member of the Programme Board in the Institute of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics, a member of the Polish Association of Modern Languages (PTN), a member of the Kraków Society for Popularizing Expertise in Linguistic Communication “Tertium”.

Her scientific interests are concentrated around several research areas, which are the German language teaching methodology, the teaching and learning process of the second and third foreign language including lapsology, transfer and multilingualism, learner’s specific needs, comparative studies in the field of lexical semantics and the study of the linguistic image of the world.

Her current scientific achievements comprise 3 books, 39 scientific articles and 11 reviews, e.g.:

She combines her scientific work with didactic duties. As part of her didactic activity, she has conducted lectures, classes, tutorials and seminars in the following subjects: Practical German (writing, practical grammar, conversations), intercultural communication, language acquisition and learning, applied linguistics, introduction to linguistics, master's and bachelor's tutorials in linguistics. Her activity as a sworn translator of German is combined with her didactic work in such courses as specialist translation and translation of German texts, in which she can use her professional experience.
