Andreea Nechifor

After graduating as a valedictorian from the Faculty of Letters (Romanian major – English minor) at Transilvania University of Braşov, in 2003, Andreea Nechifor pursued her study path with a master programme in Translations and Communication, at the same faculty and university, in 2005, and with a PH. D. in Philology, at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, in 2010, being awarded the Magna cum laude distinction.

Amassing, as a student, 25 awards at student national colloquiums and creative writing and translations contests, she then became involved in the academic community as a member of 4 POSDRU European projects, 1 CNCSIS national project, 1 European Leonardo da Vinci project and 3 Erasmus+ European projects, alongside teaching and researching in her areas of interests. Thus, Andreea Nechifor teaches Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis, Professional Communicative Strategies, English for Specific Purposes, Applied Grammar, Academic Discourse Practices, Oral and Writing Communicative Techniques, English Language Teaching Methodology. Her teaching career started in 2003, immediately after graduation, and she is currently an associate professor with the Faculty of Letters at Transilvania University of Brașov. Andreea undertook multiple professional trainings as an ED tutor, e-learning platform administrator, Cambridge exams trainer and has published scientific books, translations and more than 40 research articles, papers and chapters in monographs.

In terms of teaching Romanian as a Foreign Language, she has amassed more than 11 years of experience, both with the Preparatory Year programme offered by Transilvania University to foreign students and with the Summer School organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute, and she is currently the manager of a nationally funded project focused on implementing the concept of gamification in education, as a modern methodological approach in teaching Romanian as a Foreign Language.

Areas of expertise: higher education, language teaching, languages for specific purposes, e-learning, international project management, and assessment and evaluation in Applied Linguistics (Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis), English and Romanian Language Teaching Methodology, Translations.
