Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate the influence of the UTAUT 2 constructs (Performance Expectancy; Effort Expectancy; Social Influence; Facilitating Conditions; Behavioral Intention and Habit) and Intrinsic Motivation (Autonomy; Competence and Relatedness) on postgraduate students’ actual use of Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) in a blended learning environment. This exploratory research used Internet questionnaire survey (Google Forms) which were administered to 450 Universiti Utara Malaysia postgraduate students and a total of 370 valid responses were received. Data of research was analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings of this study showed that all nine latent variables (Performance Expectancy; Effort Expectancy; Social Influence; Facilitating Conditions; Behavioral Intention; Habit; Autonomy; Competence and Relatedness) moderately explained 36.9% of the variance in the actual use of Moodle. Whereas, Performance Expectancy; Effort Expectancy; Social Influence; Autonomy; Competence and Relatedness together explained 41.8% of the variance of Behavioral Intention. The unique findings of this study revealed that that not all of the factors were significantly effective in terms of behavioral intention and the actual usage of Moodle. It is recommended that future research should study other variables to measure the acceptance of Learning Management Systems among postgraduate students at higher learning institutions.
