Homeschooling and Science Education: Training Work Methods

Abstract

Due to the current conditions and the impact of economic transformations in contemporary societies, the relevance of parents as educators of their children in their homes is more frequent. The high prices of education and the problems of quality and coexistence act as factors that lead parents to take charge of the initial education of their children. Undoubtedly, research exercises are needed to help identify the way in which flexible curricula and designs of learning environments promote balanced and focused parental practices to guarantee formative processes at home. The emergence of educational materials through social networks also implies a role of the father as curator of digital content and designer of workspaces that link knowledge with educational tools available in homes. This work explores perspectives of disruptive pedagogies and the focus on STEAM supported by the maker movement to establish dynamics of progressive contents that can be worked from home. It is also sought from this proposal to generate international work networks to investigate this important issue and thus favor a sustainable learning community that helps many parents improve their educational skills with their children.
