Ginta Zalcmane works in the Reference Centre of the National Library of Latvia. Her position in the library is the head of the Information services and Interlibrary Loan.
Ginta has acquired the Master’s degree of Library and Information Sciences at the University of Latvia (2007). The Yale University Library Baltic Librarian Fellows Program at the Slavic and Eastern European Collection (2003) gave her the opportunity to improve knowledge of the United States Academic library system, as well as encouraged to be more creative in doing everyday library tasks.
Ginta has acquired the teacher professional development program Pedagogy at the Lifelong Learning Centre. She works for the Competence Development Centre of the National Library of Latvia where she teaches and grades the 960-hour learning program «Basics of Information and Library Science'' as well as provide professional development courses.
Ginta works at the library since 1993. Her work tasks include management of information services and accomplishment of reference tasks. Ginta promotes and advances information literacy to library users. She designs classroom curriculums to facilitate learning process for various target groups, including students, teachers as well as doctoral candidates.
Ginta was involved as a trainer at the Regional Training Centre in the development project for public libraries, funded by the State of Latvia, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (2008). Her contribution for the project was the preparation of training materials and conduction of training sessions at regional training centres.
