Loisa Kerwin has served Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) Center for Environmental Studies (CES) since 1996. As Assistant Director, she manages CES’ Education & Research Programs at three locations: 1) Riverwoods Field Lab in Highlands County; 2) DuPuis Nature Center in Martin County; and FAU’s MacArthur Campus in Palm Beach County. She has developed student field-based programs including Field Studies, Research, Service-learning, and Exploring from Kissimmee to the Keys. She manages Riverwoods in partnership with the South Florida Water Management District. Located on the Kissimmee River, Riverwoods programs focus on restoration ecology highlighting the success of the Kissimmee River Restoration - the headwaters of the greater Everglades restoration. CES’ Education & Research Program’s mission is to educate students, teachers and adults about the importance of conserving Florida’s natural and water resources to help maintain a healthy and sustainable quality of life.
