Marina Constantinou Epifaniou

Marina Constantinou Epifaniou is a Special Scientist at the University of Cyprus.

She completed a scholarship funded PhD in Educational
Research and Development at the University of Lincoln, UK.
Her thesis focused on the effectiveness and affective value of practical work in undergraduate life sciences education. She also holds a PgCHE in Learning in Adult Education, MA in Science Education from the University of Leeds, UK an MSc in Cellular Pathology from the University of Westminster, UK and a BSc in Biology (Hons) from Royal Holloway, University of London UK. Additionally, she is a certified trainer in vocational education and has achieved associate fellow status with the Higher Education Academy, UK.

Marina has a depth of experience in education, research, and content development. She has worked extensively on EU-funded research projects, including Erasmus and Horizon+ initiatives, and has developed educational content and training modules targeting professionals in the science sector. Her roles have included proposal development, and leading work packages in collaborative international projects.
She has been collaborating as a lecturer and scientific academic collaborator in numerous Cypriot universities, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in biology education, and qualitative and quantitative research methods. She has mentored students and supervised research dissertations across institutions in England and Cyprus.

Marina is actively involved and has participated in conferences. She has presented her research at numerous international conferences, including ESERA and PIXEL’s New Perspectives in Science Education. She has been serving as a reviewer and strand session chair for ESERA since 2020 and has published on topics ranging from practical work in tertiary education to STEM literacy.

With a strong foundation in the scientific method and a deep understanding of psychological and philosophical approaches, Marina creatively innovates and strategises to enhance learning experiences for all ages. Focusing on the human aspect, she aims in educating the mind cocreatively
in a comprehensive and meaningful way.
