Abstract
This research provides an overview of the KWL on two groups of learners. There are factors related to the reader, the reading situation, and the text, all interact as the students read in instructional settings. To encourage comprehension of whole selections, teachers usually incorporate pre-reading, during-reading and post-reading activities into lessons. One of the pre-reading activities that activate SS problem-solving behavior and their motivation to examine the material is KWL chart. Mostly learners are given an aim to read and expand schemata; hence enhance comprehension! Schoolers fill in the first two columns of the KWL Chart. The Kcolumn stands for: What I already know about the topic. The W column stands for: What I wonder about, or what I want to know. The L column is done as a duringreading activity and stands for: What I have learned. Under the usage of quasi-experimental method, the researcher selected two populations of learners including 18 peoples at the age of 10. First group received KWL and the second did not. The result taken through post-test was a remarkable point that deserved asseveration.
Key words: KWL, SS, pre-reading, activity, strategy, and schooler.
