Innovation in Language Learning

TRIO’s Lab rests on a catalog that numbers over 70 courses of English, both Technical and General English.

Users have free access both to the courses and to the Lab.

The courses are part of the wide web-based educational program that is offered by Regione Toscana through the platform TRIO.

The platform TRIO is a web-learning system for the innovative, easy and intuitive learning, based on Open Source software environments: more than 1.900 courses are available online at any hour, any day, that provide free and accessible learning to citizens, public administrations and private organizations.

Within the Lab, users will be able to enhance and train English with the constant support of the TRIO e-teacher, that, carefully watching needs and difficulties of the students, creates and proposes extra lessons and exercises. 

TRIO’s users have repeated opportunities not only to practice what they have learned through the TRIO courses but also to ask the e-teacher additional explanations on topics not clear for them.

In addition, within the forum users can exchange their learning experience with the other students and can always submit new subjects for discussion.

As well as all the TRIO resources and services, both the registration and the fruition of the Lab are open and free.

The Lab tools

Here are the “tools” at teacher’s disposal within the Lab. Each instrument is focused on the needs that progressively emerge from the students. Each exercise is fast corrected by the teacher. Each student receives his own feedback.

View - Short thematic lessons with final exercises (Mahara platform)

Exercises - Quizzes with final score (Moodle platform)

Webinar - Online seminars, always at users’ disposal in a specific section (OpenMeetings platform)

Question Time - Question-and-answer sessions with the e-teacher answering the users’ questions on the subject of the day by Skype.

Forum - a specific internal forum allows a constant connection between users and e-Teachers.
