The Development of English Teaching Material Based on Contextual Teaching and Learning Approach in Elementary School Students

Abstract


This study aims to produce a product in the form of English teaching materials based approach Contextual Teaching and Learning for Elementary School for fourth grade students. The focus of the development of these materials is at the material time. The development of teaching materials using the model Borg and Gall with nine steps of the ten step development of Borg and Gall. The technique of the collection the data such as interviews, observation and questionnaire. Data obtained from the media expert of 97 %, which means very good, a field of study by 88 %, which means very good, english teacher at 95 %, which means also very good. The data obtained from the evaluation of students in one on-one that is very good, in the evaluation of a small group that is very good, and the field trials is very good. There is an increase in the average learning outcomes of students from the original 58.50 into 89.17. So that this is very good teaching materials used in learning English in the fourth grade primary school. The result of this development is expected to assist educators in teaching the material time in the fourth grade primary school. In addition, the future is expected educators can select and sort of teaching materials appropriate for their students so that learning objectives can be achieved optimally. The result of this development is expected to provide greater insight to developers so that they can further enrich the literature on the development of English language teaching materials based Contextual Teaching and Learning approach for Elementary School for fourth grade students.
