Building Bridges of Second Language through Peer Learning – A Cross Cultural Study

Abstract
In present teaching learning process, peer-group collaborative learning tools have become very influential and useful. This paper aims to describe and analyze a mini-project between Indian students of an International school and foreign students of the same school. The project entitled Building Bridges of Second Language through Peer Learning – A Cross Cultural Study has a threefold objective through peer learning. Now we saw firstly the cultural awareness between the foreign students and Indian students, secondly enhance student’s skills on reading, writing, listening and speaking in the use of Sanskrit, Korean and Thai languages.
Thirdly direct involvement towards learning a new language with certain basic principles of grammar, punctuation and flow of speaking is observed that the learning progress of both the categories through regular evaluation. The evaluation & outcome of the sample students is undergoing by the guidance of a team consisting of psychologists, teacher and linguists.
It not only helps students but also the teaching & non-teaching staff to broaden their horizon of knowledge during the interaction & learning period. It has also the vital resources which will help the future generation. It is a model of cross – cultural study which can enhance co-operation and connectivity with other cultures.
Hypothesis – Peer-learning is an effective way of learning.
