Abstract
It is a well-known fact that a great tendency towards the use of authentic material and its integration into the curriculum of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses has gained a great importance during the last years. The use of learning technologies and Internet in ESP language teaching classrooms is being valued by many scholars and is considered as one of the most appreciated materials applied to language learning and teaching. Using online courses has also attracted a considerable number of ESP practionners all over the globe and Algeria is no exception.Â
This paper explains how online courses nourish Algerian students and teachers’ needs for authentic learning/teaching material in an ESP learning context. Our investigation demonstrates that the virtual teaching/Learning environment provides opportunities for real materials for ESP Algerian learners as it helps bring the real world into the classroom by exposing Algerians ESP students to real ESP professional contexts that are 90% absent at the Algerian professional market level and in everyday language use. Our paper will hopefully present our research findings and provide some recommendations for the promotion of ESP teaching/learning, in the Algerian context, through online courses.
