Abstract

We would like to draw attention to different learning types and student-centered classrooms. We try our best to draw all the attention during lesson. With this lesson plan, we try to focus on multiple intelligence and being student-centered. We allow our students to enjoy their success. We would like to share one of our lesson plans with you.

As a school, learning a foreign language has always been important to us.

We have many students coming from different linguistic and academic background. We try our best to balance their learning sytles and focus on the fact that English is not only a lesson. In order to share ideas and talk confidently in front of public, the students need multi-purpose classrooms. They need hands on trainings.

In order to teach shop vocabulary, phrases with shopping,we prepared a lesson plan.

As a preparation, we asked our students to find some Turkish shops that have English names. They brought them to the class and also they were supposed to bring their possessions (shoes, books, jewelleries,etc.). We try to go step by step , grouping the shop names, visualising the shop with music and description, allocating some time, sharing ideas and writing dialogues with some criteria, setting the time limit and evaluating the others.

At the end of the lesson, we realized that the students were willing to take part and act these dialogues out. It contributed to their self-confidence.They don't care about the mistakes, which was our main objectives.

This Project / lesson plan made our students feel more motivated and confident. They were happy that they enjoyed while producing something together. We realized that multiple intelligence, different learning types and hands-on training can help us achieve more in classrooms.
