Noriko Yoshimura is a professor of linguistics and the director of the Language and Communication Research Center at the University of Shizuoka in Shizuoka City, Japan.

Noriko Yoshimura received her Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Southern California (USA) in 1992. Since then, for the last 23 years, she has been teaching at the University of Shizuoka. Her research interests include Japanese syntax, Japanese-English comparative linguistics, educational linguistics, and second language acquisition.

Noriko Yoshimura is the president of the Central Japan Society of Linguistics, a board member of the Japan Second Language Association, and an Editorial Board member of the English Linguistic Society of Japan. She recently co-authored “The Modularity of Grammar in L2 Acquisition” with Mineharu Nakayama in Handbook of Japanese Psycholinguistics (De Gruyter Mouton, 2015). In the past years, she has reviewed journal articles and conference papers for Journal of Japanese linguistics, Ars Linguistica, Studies in Language Sciences, etc.
