Min Wang

Min Wang, an Assistant Professor in TESOL and Bilingual Education in the Department of Education Specialties at St. John's University. She recently successfully defended her dissertation, “The Influences of Multimodality on International Chinese Students’ Identity Negotiation While Using L2 Literacies Skill.” The Ph.D. will be conferred at the University of Alabama (UA) where she completed her doctoral studies in TESOL in the College of Education. She holds an M.A. in TESOL from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas and another M.A. in Educational Administration from East China Normal University in Shanghai, China.
Min. Wang has taught online Chinese to American undergraduates at UA and also has extensive experience in teaching K-12 native Chinese speakers in Shanghai. Her varied teaching experience and wide research interests have enabled her to explore linguistic and cultural heterogeneity and homogeneity. This area of exploration has also expanded her areas of academic research and enriched her teaching philosophy.
Min. Wang has published four articles, “Web-based supplementary materials and new literacies learning,” “A humanized pedagogy for second language literacy practices,” “The impact of cultural values on Chinese students in American higher education,” and “Multimodality and L2 literacies.” She also has a book chapter, “English language learners’ socio-emotional needs and their academic success”, which has been submitted for publication. She has attended 14 conferences including AERA, UCEA, and MSERA, as well as other national and regional ones, and presented papers at most of them. Ms. Wang has also obtained many awards and grants, such as the Graduate School Travel Grant, College Travel Grant for Professional Development at AERA, Capstone International Travel Grant, Department Travel Grant for Professional Development at AERA, AERA SLR SIG Travel Grant, and the Anna & Harold Paige Scholarship.
