Amanda C. Bradford is a lecturer in the Academic Bridge Program at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi, UAE where she is the coordinator of the extensive reading program.
Amanda graduated from the Middlebury Institute for International Studies in California, USA in 2008 where she received an M.A. in TESOL. She received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, USA where she is from originally.
For the last 10 years, Amanda has taught English to university students and adults around the world in a variety of cultural and educational contexts. Prior to her current position as lecturer at a national university in the Middle East, she taught university students and adult immigrants & refugees in the U.S. at the University of Washington and North Seattle Community College, respectively. She has also served as an English Language Fellow with the U.S. State Department in Brazil in where she trained Brazilian teachers of English in the Amazon region and in Brasilia. Formerly a Peace Corps Volunteer, Amanda taught English at a pedagogical university and secondary school in Mozambique in sub-Saharan Africa early in her language teaching career. Amanda additionally has experience teaching post-baccalaureate EAP students in the U.S. where she focused on academic reading, writing & research skills.
Amanda’s professional interests include extensive reading and second language acquisition. She has presented at international conferences around the world including the TESOL International Convention, BrazTESOL, TESOL Arabia, & the World Congress on Extensive Reading.
Prior to her career in language education, Amanda worked in nonprofit fundraising as a grants manager and consultant for a number of social services organizations in the U.S.
