Abstract

Pedagogical innovation is one of the biggest challenges that is being posed to Higher Education Institutions due to the emergence of new professions, generational characteristics and the impact of technology on everyday life. Providing professors with knowledge and skills that enable them to adopt more engaging and immersive learning practices, requires institutional commitment, at the level of pedagogical and technological training, adjusted to the current market demands and new student profiles. In the present work we address the strategy of the Polytechnic of Leiria which, since 2007, has been betting on the training of its teachers for the new teaching-learning formats, namely eLearning, and for the adoption of active learning strategies, in both face-to-face and online. Thus, based on the data obtained from 2013 to 2019, we present a comparative analysis between the various training formats and those that are more appealing to teachers according to the number of enrollees. Based on this analysis, we consider that short-term training, namely webinar and best practice sharing seem to be more attractive and effective for teachers.
