In the contemporary world, the integration of technology and information communication technology tools (ICTs) has become a key factor for successful education all over the globe. According to Amin (2018, p.4), “ICTs have the potential to accelerate, enrich, and deepen skills, to motivate and engage students, as well as strengthening teaching”. In language classrooms, ICTs offer an authentic source of language, but in order for their integration to succeed, decisions must be made as to which ICTs to use for what skills, as well as which favorite activities to plan, and what problems might arise. Despite their global growth and impressive efforts towards their integration, ICTs are still at an inception stage in the Algerian educational context (Berbar and Ait Hamouda 2018). Therefore, this study investigates the integration of TED Talks, a popular and engaging ICT resource, in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom as a promising approach to enhancing speaking accuracy among Algerian EFL students. This research aims to explore the impact of using TED Talks in conjunction with Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) on Algerian EFL students’ speaking accuracy. This presentation will report on the data collected thus far as part of a current PhD study at the University of Limerick in Ireland. It will outline the structure of the research project and present the data and findings obtained to date. Firstly, the methodologies used in the study, including quantitative and qualitative research methods and data collection, will be illustrated to achieve the research goals. Next, the presentation will include information about the written and spoken data collected during the three stages of the research, followed by an introduction of some preliminary findings. The presentation will close by considering some possible conclusions and recommendations from this study.
